'Solas' - Music for Christmas and the winter season
An album of traditional carols and Christmas music arranged and performed on the Celtic harp by Julie Darling
A few years ago I felt moved to arrange some of my favourite pieces of seasonal music for my harp.
My intention was to produce an album that expresses the beauty of the season, whether you celebrate with spiritual intent, or simply love the quiet beauty of the land in winter. It seemed to me that there was a place for music on the harp which is a graceful and joyful reflection of this beautiful season of winter and its festivals.
So this year, I am once again offering a limited edition of this CD to readers of the Spiritual Harp newsletter.
'Solas' is one of many Gaelic words which mean 'light'. In this case, it refers to 'the light of the world' - the light of Father God as it merges with the light of our Mother, the Earth. The CD contains many of our best loved traditional carols, and an original piece for the season called 'The Light of the World', composed by Julie Darling.
Eighteen Titles, including:
O Little Town of Bethlehem Hark The Herald Angels sing I Saw Three Ships
Silent Night We Three Kings Riu Riu Chiu
O Come, O Come Emmanuel In The Bleak Midwinter Unto Us A Child Is Born
See Amid the Winter Snow Away In A Manger God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
The Holly and The Ivy The Light of The World Joy To The World
If you think these beautiful traditional tunes played on the Celtic harp may bring some peace and light to your celebrations, you can buy the CD below.
