Autumn Mist

Trees breathing mist
Trees receiving mist
The give and take of nature
Beneath a pearly sky

A deep quiet is in the land
Emphasised by soft sounds
Of amber water rushing
After the rain

A crow glides across the backdrop of colour
Black against the shades of autumn
Soft greens, silver bark,
Bronze and purple

Black and white magpie
Sparkles in the gloaming
A tiny sharp thud echoes in the silence
Another acorn hits the rain soaked soil

Ready to take root, this seed of new life
Is the next meal for the waiting pheasant
Glorious in his jewelled colours
Beneath the sacred oak.
