'LIVING FROM ESSENCE'
A Spiritual Harp Retreat in the Yorkshire Dales
'A Journey into Essence'
with Julie Darling and the Celtic Harp
"Every form that you see has its original in the divine world." Rumi
How do we live as spiritual beings, preserving the integrity of both ourselves and the earth, in a modern, fast-paced world?
The hidden, secret mysteries of our own inner world are reflected in the dynamic beauty and natural process of the outer landscape – the natural world, the air we breathe, the ground we walk on, the flow of the tides and seasons of our mother, our home – the earth.
This retreat is part of a series of courses which work with the changing seasons and which aim to explore how each one of us can learn to live in harmony with the essential, divine nature of ourselves and the natural world.

Julie's harp by a Yorkshire beck
Spiritual Harp music takes us to the heart of things – to the light and wisdom of our own hearts, and the Divine light that is reflected to us by the beauty of the natural world, when we have the eyes to see it.
On this retreat we will work with the balance of the Spring Equinox and the energy of new life and growth, so that we can take the next steps of the graceful dance - the dance that weaves together the sacred call of the inner voice of our hearts and the song of the Divine Source,The Great Mystery, God, Brahma ... in the created world around us.
There is a hunger felt by many people today, for a deeper way of living; a way of being in the world where we can respond to all that life brings, from our place of 'essence' instead of the shifting sands of personality or ego; a way of being that is in harmony with the earth; that feeds us and our world, too.
Through meditating together with the music of the Celtic harp, and exploring ‘the scriptures of nature’ in a spirit of soul friendship, we can begin to take the first steps towards living in harmony with ourselves and our world, as spiritual beings in a modern culture.

The Garden at the Meditation Centre
Creative Spirituality
The retreat will hold a balance between structured time together for harp meditations and teachings, and free time to explore in whatever way feels right for you.
Walking in the beautiful countryside, time alone to meditate in the garden, space to explore words, music, song or images – any or all of these will be facilitated by support and guidance offered in the spirit of soul friendship.
Also included will be spiritual wisdom from the Celtic world; hidden teachings in ancient Celtic legend; and words of inspiration from sources such as The Carmina Gadelica – a collection of authentic Gaelic prayers and blessings for everyday life collected in the 19th century in the Western Isles and Highlands of Scotland.
There will also be information about other sources of teaching and fellowship for those wishing to explore a Celtic spiritual path more deeply.
