New CD 'VIRIDITAS' - The Green Flame
‘Viriditas’ is the Green Flame – the Divine life-giving force within all creation.
The album ‘Viriditas’ is a celebration of the music of nature and the holy places of Britain. Julie Darling takes her Celtic harp out to the mountains and the sea, to secret green valleys where water rushes down from the moors, and to ancient sacred sites such as the Isle of Iona, Lindisfarne and Glastonbury.
The word 'viriditas' is a metaphor for the vitality of spiritual and physical growth, and is most associated with Hildegard of Bingen, 12th century mystic, who declared “There is a power that has been since all eternity, and that force and potentiality is green.”
This is not a studio album. The harp music on this CD was created and recorded live during contemplation, most of it in the heart of nature, as waves crashed on the shore and the wind rustled fresh green leaves in spring.
Wild geese take flight from the shores of the Isle of Iona and the wind plays its song through the harp strings on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. These are just some of the sounds and the music that are on this album, the music of the green flame - Viriditas.
