November Event
'Solas' - A day of music and meditation, and inspiration from the Mystics
Our inspiration for the day will be the lives of three mystics - Lady Julian of Norwich, Hildegard of Bingen and Brighid of the Celtic world.
The day will be a mosaic of cello, flute, Celtic harp, ancient song and silence. |
I will be joining my friends Deborah Thorne (cello) and Denise Treissman (flute), in the beautiful octagonal chapel of St Antony's Priory in the ancient city of Durham. The chapel is very special, with a sculpted wooden altar that stands in the centre of the space and a sense of light flooding the room. |
Denise, Deborah and I presented a day here together a few years ago.
We found the acoustics, the warm welcome and the sacred atmosphere of the chapel, gave us the perfect setting to weave the sounds of our voices and instruments together for a joyful and profound experience. We are looking forward to returning to this special place. |
St Antony's Priory is set in secluded gardens and overlooks the ancient city of Durham.
The day will include a simple homemade lunch and refreshments on arrival. Cost : £20 (£10 concession) Booking is essential for this day. To enquire or to book your place Tel : 0191 384 3747 Email: [email protected] There is also a limited amount of accommodation at the Priory. |
